Watch out for dorsal fins.

Today started a bit overcast, it was still warm but cloudy. I sat out on the decking watching our little bird family coming and going again as they started another non stop day of feeding their ever hungry chicks. We decided to visit the heritage museum and gardens near Sandwich. It was about a 40 min drive away and when we arrived it was still fairly cloudy but still good weather to visit. We weren't there long before the skies started to clear and it warmed up even more.

The gardens were really pleasant and we started to slowly amble our way around. Sam had bought me a crutch and I'm thankful she did, it was a life saver when wandering around. We still took it slow, taking long rests periodically and there was also a shuttle cart which would take you to certain stops around the park every so often.

There were also museums along the way, one had classic cars and I saw one classic and instantly thought of my dad!

He's a huge land rover fan and thought he'd enjoy this picture of a very well preserved series three.

We hobbled along all morning, stopping to have a spot of lunch in the shade and then carrying on. I love these types of gardens and I was glad we could walk through them on such a glorious day.

I have loads more pictures I will upload when we get back to Albany as they are on my camera. I was snapping quite a bit today, so look out for those when I get back.

We got back to the cottage and were feeling a bit peckish so Sam grilled up some cheese burgers and a couple of hot dogs to keep us going and we decided to head to the beach. By this time it was 4 o'clock and it was still really warm, so we packed up our stuff and headed out.

We found a nice quiet spot and set up our stuff, we then wandered down to test the water, it was really quite warm, so Sam decided she was going in for a dip. I sat in the deck chair and watched. We had a conversation earlier in the week about how I could get into the sea, what with not being able to wear my leg while I'm in there and we mustered a plan back then. We were also both pretty sure I wouldn't decide to go in. Also the plan entailed a little help from Sam if I were to go in. But seeing Sam wade out into the water, it didn't take me long to decide to give it a try. So I took off my leg and hopped down the beach, which certainly didn't come as easy as it used to, and into the water. I hopped past the line of sea weed, hopped over the line of shells and stones, ouching all the way and then Sam turned around and was surprised to see me getting as far as I had. I made it to soft sand and managed to drop to my knees and wade the rest of the way, till I could half stand half Bob in the water. I think I was as surprised as Sam was that I had made it in.

We bobbed, floated and swam about for quite a while, the water being still very warm and enjoyable. Sam told me to keep and eye for dorsal fins, I think she was a little on edge after reading an article about shark sightings off Cape cod that afternoon. So, with all limbs still attached - well at least the ones we entered the water with, we decided to come out. The worst part was having the crawl through the seaweed line, with seaweed sloshing around my chest eww, Sam somehow managed to get herself bit by, we think, a crab and squealed quite loudly about it and the other people on the beach couldn't be seem to even look up at this woman screaming on the shoreline. Hop hop hop up the beach and a flop into the beach chair later, I was done. We sat enjoying the still very warm sun for a while, watching the seagulls and then made our way home.

After changing out of our wet clothes we were getting a little peckish once more so headed off for something light to eat. We found a restaurant we went to last time and sat out on the decking out the back and ordered foods. We though it might be a good idea to go try and fly the kite that evening. But by the time we got back to the beach it was already half past eight and the light was fading fast so though better of it, making a note to come back earlier one evening.

We sat out on the decking watching the sun slowly vanish and the stars start to peep out before we yawned heavily and thought it best to get into our beds and sleep.
