It's been two years since I last went out to the United States and I'm off on a trip again. This time I will be spending the 4th of July out there, I really want to see some Independence Day celebrations and experience some American summertime. I was quite anxious as I don't work too well towards deadlines and this is a big one but the closer I got, the more I got done, the happier and more excited I felt about going.
What am I going to do this time around?
The first day I arrive I will be spending the night at Sam's, after a long journey I don't want to be doing any more travelling, so we expect a fairly sedate afternoon and evening. The following day we are taking a road trip to Cape Cod again. This time we are staying in a small chalet, with a dock on the river and a hammock. Any more details other than that I don't want to know and want to be surprised once I get there. So stay tuned for pictures.
Once there, we will visit local places, play some putt putt, eat out and generally relax. Seems like there is plenty to do and see and I'll try to keep you informed while I'm there. There apparently is no internet where we are staying but the local Dunkin Donuts has wifi so I may try to upload something to the blog before we head out in the morning. Other than that, I may have to post pictures and a better description once we arrive back in Albany.
After the week in Cape Cod, we return to Albany for two weeks of local sight seeing and events. I know we have planned to go and see a baseball match one, hopefully, sunny evening. The rest of the time, well, you'll have to wait and see as even I don't really know much more. Exciting huh?
Had a bit of a disruption to my scheduled planning this weekend gone; my poor cat, Scamp had a womb infection and needed an operation at the vets. The poor girl was so scared and she had to stay in overnight so when I got her home she wanted to do nothing but hide away in her nest. She's doing much better now and even back to sleeping on my bed at night again. I'm so pleased I caught it before I went away else... well I don't like thinking about that.
Bad thing is, she has a vet appointment the day before I fly out so I only have one night to make sure she's not too shaken up about it before I leave the poor little devil for three weeks.
I was working in the garden yesterday, trimming and tidying it up ready for the long time that I'll be away. Its neat and tidy now but I can only imagine the jungle I'll be returning home to. My mum said she will water it if required, which is kind of her, so at least the plants wont all die off while I'm gone. Today was a lovely day so I managed to take some pictures;
This afternoon I will be packing my stuff to take with me and making sure I haven't forgotten anything ready for my departure on Thursday morning. My friend Chris will be taking me to the airport at 5:00am and that's when the day of hell begins. I'm not a fan of the travelling, all that time sat on a plane.. urgh but still, its got to be done. I just hope I can sleep on the plane and it'll be over quickly.
There we go! My next post will be once I'm on American soil, see you there!
Hi Mate,
ReplyDeleteHope all went fine with your travels yesterday. Been down to feed and water the cats this morning,Bumble came out straight away to see what was going on...Scamp for obvious reasons was somewhat more reluctant,though she did go into the kitchen after a little while. She seems okay but I'll keep a close eye on her anyway.
They'd totally demolished all the food you'd put down for them before you left but if I recall correctly they did much the same last time you were away....feline version of comfort eating I guess.
Have fun out there.
Rob
Thanks Rob
ReplyDeleteThat means Scamp is eating her proper food again now. So that's one less thing to worry about. I only put a bowl and a half of food out anyway after I cleaned the bowels. Thanks for that.
