Sit and spin!

So I been in America a week this evening. Sam says it feels longer. I'm not sure if that means I'm a pest and she feels like this holiday is going on forever or that she just enjoys having me around. Well, she hasn't tried to ditch me anywhere or roll me up in a carpet and set fire to me, so I say that's a good sign.

Again, another day of work for Sam and a lazy day for me. Just as well really. My left knee is kinda quirky. It's getting better, it better be, I'll be in New York City soon!

After seeing Sam off for another day, I sat and played Monkey Island for a bit. Then I decided I best get something constructive done. So out came the tools and I opened a box Sam had brought in from the car a couple of days ago. I opened it and laid out all the stuff inside.

Hmm seems its a stool. Should be easy enough.

After about 10 mins it had gone from a box of bits to....
Something that resembles a stool. Seems I was right. I even sat on It and tested it to see if it fell apart. It didn't. It even spins! Mission success. I tidied up and left the stool in the corner to see how long it takes until Sam notices it.

The stool it's self wasn't hard to put together but there are two parts to this equation that were seemingly left overlooked. Two rather inquisitive and tricksy pussy cats. These two would play with the nuts and bolts, loose the screws and get in the way, if I didn't come up with a cunning plan. My plan was simple. Open the box, lay it down and let the pesky critters venture in and around the new toy.
Ah ha! So far my plan seems to be working. They seem to be paying more attention to the empty box than the small bolts rolling around the floor.
I got on and built the stool before they realised there were other things to play with just a few feet away.
Stool done! Phew. And not a single screw lost or nut swallowed. Only trouble now is, they seem to be extremely fond of the box. I have tried to pack it away in the corner, only for them to knock it over and be clambering around in and on it. Oh we'll, at least the main task was completed without interference.

The rest of the day was taken up with, gaming, doing chores and taking a bath. That was entertaining in itself, the cats showed way too much interest. I could of shut the door on them but then I would of missed out on their inquisitive entertainment.

When Sam got home we went out for dinner. There is a Resturant on the river. It's on a barge and it was a lovely evening. We sat on the barge and had our food looking out over the Hudson.

After which, we took a very short stroll along the water front and sat on a bench for a while, watching and talking as it got darker. About 8:30 we got home and sat out on the porch, again watching the goings on of the street and other people on their porches enjoying the evening before bed.
