After some coffee and the wake up time. We mulled about the house till 11:30 when we had to leave to catch the train to New York. So we waved good bye to the kitties and dragged our bags to the car. We caught the train at 12:10 and within 10 mins it was pulling out of the station and we were off on our two hour train ride into the city.
I watched a film and looked out the window as we travelled. We arrived at Pen station just after 2. Last time I was pretty anxious when we got out of the train. Not knowing where to go, how busy it would be, not knowing how to hail a cab I was a little short fused. This time, however, I strolled off the train, followed Sam and spent more time admiring where I was rather than being worried about everything. The weather wasn't great, it was overcast and drizzling but still, I didn't mind, I was in NYC!
I just had to take that picture, comparing it to the first picture of New York from last time.
We were meeting Nina at our hotel at about 3:30 and we were running a little late because of the rain, it was tough to get a taxi. However, we soon arrived and admired our hotel room.
Upon opening the bathroom door, we realised there was going to be arguments. We had a whirlpool bath and deciding who was going to get to use it and when, we could see, was going to be trouble.
All three of us went down to the bar and grabbed dinner and a few drinks. I tried a Manhattan. It wasn't bad although it has whiskey in it and I'm not a huge whiskey drinker. In the end I stuck to my Sam Adams and Sam finished off my Manhattan. Well, I have to have at least one Manhattan when in Manhattan don't I?
Sam voiced an opinion after dinner that she was a little tired and could do with a nap. So while Sam took a nap, Nina and me, after asking a waiter where a good place to go was, took off for the evening. Apparently west 33rd street, at the side of the Empire State Building, was a good place to go, a few good bars and such.
After we got dropped off by the taxi, we walked a block in the wrong direction but we soon found the right place. Thank goodness I took pictures of maps on my iPad. Phew! We found a great Irish bar, Jack Demsey's. We had a drink there before walking a little further down the street for Nina's birthday treat for me. Nina's a great sport, she'd agreed to take me to a 'cabaret'.
That's a nice way if saying, classy strip club. We had a few chuckles, drinks and I had a few dances. Before we had to leave. We spent an hour and a half there but it was awesome. Thank you Nina, you didn't have to take me there for my Birthday treat but some how, I think you had as much fun as I did.
Just after 9:10 Nina got in a taxi and I waved her off. I grab my taxi and, surprisingly, managed to not get lost back to my hotel. It had been a long day so about 10:30 I was ready for bed.
It is fantastic to be back in NYC and was awesome to see Nina again. Thanks for coming out!
