I done the usual, got Sam's breakfast ready and made the coffee and was the left on my own again. The day was taken up with, napping, playing guild wars and doing the few chores that laid about.
As Sam returned home, I was stood at the sink doing the washing up. However, we had a job to do tonight.
The weather was sunny and warm, unlike the weather back home. When I spoke with my mum and brother on Skype today, it seems they were having lots of rain and very heavy winds. They were worried about the tree in the front garden. The skies looked grey and nasty and I then looked out of our window here and smiled. "Not so bad here" I said. It was great to talk to family back home with Skype, if only the connection was a little less pixelated. I just wondered where my dad was, I could hear his voice but didn't see him. Maybe afraid his soul would be sucked into the webcam perhaps. Next time I speak to the family, I'll get them to turn the camera on him and see what happens.
We got our boots on and headed out. We went to the garden centre to pick up some supplies for a project Sam had in mind. It was the same garden centre we went to last time to pick up the Christmas tree. I didn't recognise it in the sun and without all the trees in the yard. We picked up some flowers and some soil, don't ask me what the plants were called, they were just..... Plants, ok.
Sam wanted to plant a hanging basket, a couple of pots and a flower bed along the side of the drive way. After an hour or so, we had done a rather good job.
This is the drive way, looks rather good. Sam done most of this. I raked out part of the hay and was very protective of it, must be flat and even with no dirt showing. Sam built the little rock structure and put a gnome behind it, just peeking out. Sure beats the empty space with weeds that was there.
This is the hanging basket, before it began its hanging days.
One of the pots. This sits by the side steps and should fill out nicely.
Finally, the pot on the porch. All in all a rather successful evening.
After the planting was done we ordered out for Chinese food. Sweet and sour chicken for me! Yum! Beats lobster that's for sure! We even get little fortune cookies.
"The fortune cookie is an American Invention. It's cheap, full of lies and leaves a bad taste in your mouth." Ironman 3 quote, I rather liked it actually.
Bellies now full with a sense of a job well done. We relaxed a bit before climbing the wooden hill. Another easy day in lifestyle week.
Geraniums and Hosta I recognized there. Very good choices and lower maintenance plants. Well done. The Hostas like water, fyi.
ReplyDeleteStill jelly of Chinese food delivery. *sigh*
Oh, nice stool too. ;) Those cats are ADORABLE!
Thanks again for the nice blogging Kari.
That's them! As I said.... Plants. I look after the cats when Sam's at work and they are cute and very very funny to just watch. I'm having a lot of fun just posting actually. I'll be in game today when the chores are done, I'll look for you.
